Poolandspa.com was one of the sponsors for long time tournament poker
player John Koliner in this year's 2011 World Series Of Poker, held at
the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas this July. The first day of the "final tables"
on 07/09/2011 was marked by quite a few
unusual Las Vegas weather events. The temperatures were over
100 degrees, and it poured rain for half the day. So the
humidity was also very, very high for Vegas, which made it a bit
unusually uncomfortable both outside and inside the Rio Casino. Who
would have thought that the desert would be this wet and humid in
July? But it was....bringing high winds, torrential rains and
some lightning - during the daytime, while the World Series
continued inside.
Even the "Red Carpet" area they had set up outside for the incoming VIP
guests (including Ray Romano and Brad Garrett, among others) was
turned into a big red sponge, that most people had to walk around.
Poolandspa.com sponsored John again this year, as
he has won over $57,000 in recent tournaments at the Borgota in
Atlantic City. John made it all the way through Day 1
AND Day 2 of the "final tables". Unfortunately he
was knocked out at the end of Day 2. He was proud to have
lasted even that long, playing against some of the best poker
players in the world. We are sure that he will be back next
year, to try to win again. Congratulations to him for getting as far
as he did, in the biggest poker event in the world!

It is very hard
to take enough photos to adequately show how amazing it
is to be in a
room with a few thousand people playing poker and
clicking their chips all
at the same time time. You really have to be there
to fully experience
the whole aura of this place! |

Unbelievable heat, humidity, rain & thunder hit the Las Vegas area
on the first day of the Main Event. It is normally sunny & dry
in Las Vegas this time of year. This shot is taken of City
