Hot Tub Spa Scents have always
been a very popular aftermarket accessory item among tub owners. If
you are unfamiliar with Spa Scents, or you have never been in a
"scented tub", then you are really missing out.
Basically Spa Scents lightly
scent the spa water by adding about a half an ounce of a specially
scented liquid to the water. Spa Scents are specifically designed to
be used in hot tub applications and will not alter water chemistry
or cloud the water. The scent usually lasts about 20 minutes, depending
on how much you put in.
Spa Scents were made popular
in the mid-eighties by a company called Yudachi Spa Scents. In fact
we sold this line of Scents for years. Unfortunately Yudachi went
out of business and has left a real whole in the hot tub
Scent market.
A new company, Insparation,
has taken up where Yudachi left off. They offer the same Scents that
Yudachi did as well as adding a number of new fragrances. Some of
the scents included in their extensive catalog are Honeysuckle,
Country Herbal, Polynesian Paradise, April Showers, Forest Breeze,
Peach, Hawaiian Sunset, Gardenia,
Rain, Jasmine, Cherry Blossom and many. many more. As well as offering
an assorted "sampler" pack that contains samples of many
of the most popular Scents.
Using any of these Scents in
your hot tub not only produces a more pleasing odor than your tub
normally has, but may actually be able to help you with various
health problems !
While aromatherapy used to be
relegated to the halls of pure quackery, it is now considered a
science and has spawned a multi-billion dollar "scent"
industry. Aromatherapy is the use of plant essences, extracted from
leaves, flower petals, roots, bark, buds or seeds, to promote health
and well being. For example, Tea Tree treats bug bites, Eucalyptus
helps colds and Jasmine alleviates anxiety.
Think about Lavender,
Peppermint or Lemon. Images come quickly and clearly to mind and
somehow evoke not only a visual picture of the plant and its Scent,
but a mood and maybe a memory as well. The practice of aromatherapy
itself is a science that uses extracts from plant material
therapeutically, but with growing use in the last five years, the
term has evolved and is now recognized as the use of fragrances in
general. Because of its positive effects on physical and mental
health, aromatherapy is naturally becoming a mainstay on the menus
of spas and health clubs.
Fragrances can have a profound
influence on our mood, and our reactions to them are spontaneous and
involuntary. They have healing capabilities and affect the entire
wellness of the body, mind and spirit. In an actual aromatherapy
session, the fragrances can be applied by a few different methods.
One of the most common is massage, which helps the fragrant oil
extracts to penetrate the skin and directs them where they are
needed most. Another popular method is the actual inhalation of the
fragrance, which is particularly helpful in treating lung problems,
colds, coughs and the flu. Aromatic diffusers are also employed
which disperse a mist of scent into the air.
As you can probably figure
out, the use of fragrant Scents in a hot tub is almost the perfect
environment to achieve many of the relaxing benefits of aromatherapy
! As well as covering up unpleasant chemical odors that may be
present in your spa, Scents tend to relax the spirit, while bringing
back pleasant memories of the past. Combined with the hydro therapy
of the swirling water, the addition of Spa Scents will complete your
overall pleasurable experience and make hot tubbing even more fun!
