company that appeared in the trade publication "Pool & Spa News".
Taking a leaf from the book of mass marketers themselves,
Daniel Harrison, President of Long Island Hot Tubs in Mastic, N.Y., has crafted a unique
system in which his customers don't even have to set foot in a store to complete a sale.
To accomplish this, he says, he sends a newsletter, Hot
Tub Life, to all his customers with a mail order form. Although this type of marketing is
rather commonplace in most other industries, Harrison is the first one to capture the mail
order business for hot tub supplies.
Customers can order virtually anything associated with a
hot tub, by either phone, mail, fax, E-mail or even over the Internet ! Now that's
technology for you.
Harrison says "Home Shopping Club and CVN have given
mail/phone order a new respectability. Many of our customers are two income families who
simply do not have enough time to go out and shop for spa chemicals and supplies. Mail
order is the way to go in the 90's if you want to keep up with the fast paced lifestyles
of today's hot tub owners."
About 90 percent of the company's gross sales now come
through mail/phone orders. Other pool and spa companies should follow their lead !
