I'm looking for a spa in the $4,500-$5,500 range. Enough to seat 2-3 people comfortably. I've made several visits to my local dealers and the two brands that seem to fit the bill are Great Lakes and Nordic.
I'm leaning towards the Great lakes GL-4 due to the Neck jets. Big Plus. But I'm wondering if anyone has this spa or brand and if so what are your experience with it. I was quoted about $5,500 for this spa. Does anyone know if that is a fair quote?
Also if there are other spa lines that may meet my budget please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know the pricing of either brand, but I can tell you that in the upper end of the range you are describing there are much better spas (both construction and warranty) with Bullfrog Spas and Clearwater Spas.

Premiere. Thanks for the Info. I've actually been interested in the Bullfrog 451 spa, but the price I've been quoted has been out of my budget range by about $3,500. The 331 Sounds like a possibility though, but the only Bullfrog dealer in my area doesn't have a floor model for me to see and test in person. And I don't know of any Clearwater dealers in the are either .Love your website by the way. A lot of great information. Thank you!

Drunnero - Thank you. We have put a lot of time and effort into our website to assist hot tub buyers.
Regarding Bullfrog, I was specifically thinking about the 251 or 151 in regards to the price you range you mentioned. The 251 is a bit more expensive than the 151, but I would recommend it for several reasons, including 2 JetPaks & a stronger warranty.

For a value brand Great Lakes and Nordic can't be beat. But it seems the prices you have in your area are a bit higher than in my area (Northern Minnesota) Both those brands while not high end tubs are considered in the industry top notch value brands with good manufacturer backing and a solid reputation.

I always thought Great Lakes spas looked good (the few I saw out here on the West Coast). But I thought they went bankrupt recently? I'd double check that for issues like parts and warranty. Nordic always had a great reputation,tho.
I'll offer another thought. How about a rotomolded spa like Freeflow? They're made entirely different from all other spas. Nearly all hot tubs are made out of acrylic (a fragile, easily shaped material). Once they are vacu-formed, they are flipped over and laminated with a tougher substance like fiberglass for strength and insulation. Problem is that acrylic is an amorphous plastic that cant' be reheated, repaired or reshaped once it sets. And fiberglass is a silicon based resin that will stick to acrylic but expands and contracts at a different rate. This can lead to separatation and cracking over time, particularly in colder climates.
Rotomolded tubs (however) are made like dog dishes or trash cans out of a single, much stronger material called Polyethylene. Same stuff used in kayaks, crash barries and playground equipment. They simply put the resin in the mold and slowly spin it in a huge oven to "shake it and bake it". And 30 minutes later, out pops a hot tub. No seams to separate, no wooden cabinet or frame to fall apart. Then they simply plumb it with the same heaters (Balboa) and pumps (AquaFlo)used on all the high end tubs and you have the lightest, toughest hot tub made. Made in a fraction of the time and fraction of the cost.
Freeflows cost between $2995 a $4995 (depending upon whether you want the same, plastic skirting used on other tubs which they put on strictly for appearance sake).
They can't make them as big as most hot tubs (being either 6 ft or 7 ft size compared to 8ft size for most regular hot tubs) nor as pretty as their acrylic counterparts. And they don't have as many "bells or whistles" as the bigger tubs. But they are tougher, lighter, less expensive and easier to install (since they only have one pump and can be plugged into a regular 110v/15amp house circuit). Or you can add a bigger 3.5HP pump and turn them into a stronger 220v tub if you like.
Either way, for a reliable, easy to own and operate basic hot tub for 2-3 people, you can't do any better than this. Check them out at http://www.freeflowspas.com. I'm a former sales rep who got laid off due to the recent downturn in the industry. But I'm still acting as an independent sales agent for them (and others) selling factory direct to parts of the country where there is no longer a dealer in town.
Call me at 949-888-9400 or email me at paul@westcoastmarketing to learn more. They can be directly drop shipped to your door for around $400. And since I have no overhead, I'll give you the best factory direct pricing. Anyone can service them since they have the same two basic, American made components (top of the line Balboa heater and AquaFlo pump) used on most of the top brands today.

Hey, you should take choosehottubsdirectand choose direct hot tubsinto consideration. With the crisis we experienced these days wherein frugality takes control made selection even more crucial for shoppers. Many consumers are getting more for their dollar by shopping at discount stores and wholesale chains. There are also many consumers that are taking it one step further by doing cost comparisons and purchasing products online.

The post above is blatant spam. If you're considering anything from them PLEASE research them extensively. Here is a good site with some rather frightening information;
