First Time Spa Buyer, looking for used...

Hi, we are first time spa buyers, and both my husband and I have back problems and leg problems from car accidents, so we are looking for a therapeutic spa. We don't have a huge budget, about $3500, so we are looking for a pre-owned spa to get the best value. We went to a Hot Springs dealer yesterday and he is pushing a Hot Springs Prodigy for 3695. Is this a good deal? It is a few years old and I am concerned that it only has 19 jets, which I feel may not be enough. We aren't partiers, so it will probably only need to seat 4 or 5. Please help me. We are in Riverside, CA

Unfortunately the smaller the overall size of the tub, the fewer jets it's going to have. That's just the way they make them. As for the used Prodigy, look around and see what you can get a new one for and compare from there. Also ask the dealer what, if any, warranty he will give with the spa.
I will say, if the equipment in the Prodigy is fairly new then it's probably a pretty good buy, but beware, if no warranty, no sale!!

At $3500, your choices are pretty limited. You are certainly not going to find a new Prodigy for anywhere close to that price unless a dealer is going out of business and really desparate.
I would agree with the previous post regarding a warranty. Being as this is a Hot Spring dealer selling a used Hot Spring Prodigy I would expect them to provide (at the very least) a 1 year Parts and Labor warranty. I'd push for 2 years as I would expect that they have checked the spa out and performed whatever repair was needed. BTW - The original warranty was 5 years Parts and Labor.
In this price range (well a bit higher) but for a new spa, I might suggest that you look at Bullfrog Spas SportX line. You can see these at http://www.bullfrogspas.com/pages/sportX-buy.asp. The 131 is $3,995, but as you want a 4 - 5 person spa, I'd suggest the 151 @ $4,495. You will receive a full Factory Warranty, though the SportX warranty does not include labor. I am a Bullfrog Spas dealer, but I am quite certain that you will not find a better spa for the price.

First off, how much will I have to spend on operating costs? How much work will it be to maintain my spa water? How often will I be in need of service? We carry parts from most spa and pool manufacturers including Sundance, Cal Spa, Marquis, Kohler, Vita, Hot Springs, Jacuzzi, Maax, Coleman and many more.
