Hi...Can someone tell me if I can use a pool cover pump to remove water from my inground pool & if so how do I go about doing it? Thanks in advance!

Yes you can use a cover pump to remove water from your pool, just toss it in the deep end making sure the electric plug is not in danger of getting wet, it doesn't usually matter if it lands on the bottom upright as long as it doesn't have an internal float that turns it on and off, if it does it wont come on unless it's standing up. The only problem is that the cover pump is going to take forever to drain any meaningful amount of water from the pool.
Just use your pool pump, set the multiport to "Waste" and if you use a backwash line stretch it out to an area that can take a lot of water or has good drainage then turn the pump on. If you want to drop the level below the skimmers then make sure you close the skimmer valves near the pump first. Keep an eye on it, it wont take long, depending on how low you want it, and you don't want to forget about it and totally drain your pool.

Thanks!! Normally I would use the pool pump itself but pool has been closed for winter & I just want to get some water out before opening for the season!!!

Right on, you use the cover pump for sure your plug is not getting wet. We are expert in handling warranty service for pool and spa equipment including pumps, filters, heat pumps, lighting and alternative sanitation.
