I'm a huge fan of pool covers too. I buy all my pools and supplies online. The best company I've found, at least for Above Ground Pools is this one. Shopping online usually provides better prices. Give it a shot.

Without a pool cover you're going to get bugs, leaves, etc. in your pool and could clog your filter or even your pump. If you live in the Midwest and are looking for a good pool cover, you could save money by buying items for your swimming pools at this site. It's better than trying to deal with people at local pool shops who do not know their products very well.

Using pool covers
1. help reduce the amount of make-up water needed 2. helps save tremendous amounts of energy 3. keep debris and dirt out of water
(This is when you use a vinyl or a plastic cover)

Jessica makes a good point. There's a difference between a cover and a safety cover. If there are children around, definitely consider the latter.

I would also prefer pool safety cover although it is more expensive than an ordinary pool cover but keeping safety in mind, a safety cover is better than a pool cover.
